Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves Betting Information

Naturally, three consecutive National League East Division titles make the Braves attractive.  Gamblers and the baseball community both see Atlanta as a top MLB betting odds contender.  Atlanta’s poor start to the 2021 season is written off as just one of those things.  Chicago is one of baseball’s most successful franchises in the past five seasons.  However, the Cubs shaved payroll in the offseason.  Baseball observers and bettors saw that as Chicago putting up the white flag of surrender.  In the first month of play, the Cubs exceeded expectations.  Run production continues to be a Chicago strength.

Chicago Cubs at Atlanta Braves CashBet Wagering Analysis

On this occasion, the Braves will carry most of the casual top online sportsbook action.  Atlanta is a power brand at home that’s starting to play well.  Chicago may get some action from sharps.  Wise Guys like the value the Cubs are bringing.

Cubs Power Way to Surprising Start

Chicago won four of their last five games.  While three of those five games went under the total.  Chicago is 10-10 straight up, 9-11 vs. the run line, and 7-11-2 under the number.  Overall, the Cubs rank 12th for run production and 21st for earned run average.  Chicago is 5th in MLB for home runs.

Of great concern is the poor baseball betting start by Kyle Hendricks.  In four starts, Hendricks is 1-2 with a 5.68 earned run average and 1.526 WHIP.  Last year Hendricks was 6-5 with a 2.88 ERA and 0.996 WHIP.  But Hendricks did show well in his previous start.  In six innings vs. Milwaukee, he allowed two earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

So far, Chicago’s lineup boasts tremendous balance.  Javier Baez and William Contreras have six home runs.  Meanwhile. Kris Bryant has five dingers.

Atlanta Digging Out from Poor Start

Late on, the Braves perked up with five wins in seven games.  Three of their previous five outings went over the total.  Atlanta is 9-10 straight up, 7-12 on the money line, and 11-7-1 over the number.  MLB metrics show the Braves 9th for run production and 3rd for home runs.  Of major concern is a ranking of 25th for staff earned run average.  So too are marks of 16th for quality starts and 17th for bullpen ERA.

Huascar Ynoa is the probable starter for the Braves.  Overall, Ynoa is 1-1 with a 3.68 earned run average against the MLB betting lines.  Ynoa, age 22, is a rookie from the Dominican Republic. He struck out 25 batters in 22 innings of work.  Last start for Ynoa was a win over Arizona.  In six innings, he allowed two hits, two earned runs with five strikeouts.

Ronald Acuna is the most exciting player in baseball.  Consider his 21 runs, six doubles, seven home runs, 16 runs batted in, .388 average, and 1.262 OPS.

Chicago Cubs at Atlanta Braves Against the Spread

Chicago is 4-8 in their last 12 road games.  While only three of their previous nine away games stayed under the total.  Atlanta is 5-6 in their last 11 games at Truist Park.  And the Braves are 10-0-1 over the number when playing at home.

Overall, the Braves won 11 of their last 17 betting on baseball matchups with Chicago.  Only four of the previous 11 games in this series cleared the total.  Specifically, Atlanta got the cash in four of their last six home games with the Cubs.  Only two of those six games went over the number.
