Pitt and Wake Forest Meet in Surprise 2021 ACC Title Game

2021 ACC Championship Game Pittsburgh U vs. Wake Forest Betting Information

Dave Clawson is a virtual miracle worker.  To be exact, he is taking tiny Wake Forest to the ACC Championship Game.  The last time the Deacs were in this role was in 2006.  Wake Forest has the smallest enrollment at the FBS level.  Yet Clawson has found the magic formula.  It is difficult to find a program that best epitomizes the word “team.”  You will not find a host of 5-star recruits at Wake Forest.  Instead, you find a College football betting value that plays exceptionally well together.  On Saturday, the Deacs face explosive Pitt for the title.

Pitt Panthers vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons CashBet Odds Analysis

On this occasion, we get a surprise matchup.  After all, the ACC Championship Game is considered property of the Clemson Tigers.  But Clemson is nowhere to be found with the sportsbook odds.  Neither Pitt nor Wake Forest brings a powerful brand for the masses.  Thus, gambling action should be split evenly between the Demon Deacons and Panthers.  Live betting is expected to set records for an ACC title game matchup.

Panthers Climb with Heisman Hopeful Pickett at QB

Last week Pitt beat Syracuse 31-14 as 11.5-point away favorites.  The game went under the Betting on college football total of 58.  As a result, Pitt is 10-2 straight up, 9-3 against the spread, and 8-4 over/under.  Overall, Pitt ranks 3rd for total offense and 4th for scoring offense.  Defensively, the Panthers rank 42nd overall and 44th for points allowed.

Kenny Pickett threw for four touchdowns to break the Pitt school record or scoring passes in a season.  In turn, Pittsburgh won its fourth straight and finished the regular season 5-0 on the road. It’s the Panthers’ first 10-win season since 1981.

Pickett connected with tailback Rodney Hammond Jr. and wideout Jordan Addison in the second quarter. And then he hit tight end Gavin Bartholomew and Addison again in the third to stake the Panthers to a 28-7 lead.

In sum, Pickett boosted his season total to 40 touchdown passes, three more than the previous record set by Dan Marino in 1981.   Pickett finished 28 of 38 for 209 yards with one interception.

Demon Deacons Greater Than the Sum of Their Parts

Last week Wake Forest beat Boston College 41-10 as 6-point away favorites.  The game went under the bet on NCAAF total of 64.5.  As a result, Wake Forest is 10-2 straight up, 6-6 against the spread, and 6-6 over/under.  The Deacs rank 9th for total offense and 3rd for scoring offense.  Defensively, Wake Forest ranks 100th overall and 91st for points allowed.

Wake Forest got three passing touchdowns and one more on the ground from Sam Hartman for the win. Now the Demon Deacons will attempt to claim their first league title since 2006

At the onset, Hartman ran it in from 7 yards out midway through the first quarter.  Correspondingly he made it 14-0 on a 33-yard pass to AT Perry. It was 17-10 late in the second when Brandon Sebastian intercepted Hartman in the end zone.  However, BC went three-and-out.  And then Wake Forest scored on Hartman’s 7-yard pass to Perry just before halftime.

BC ran off three straight three-and-outs, along with an interception, to start the third quarter. In comparison, Wake Forest extended its lead with a field goal.  And then a 3-yard run by Christian Turner that made it 34-10.

Hartman completed 20 of 32 passes for 236 yards and ran 11 times for 51 yards. At the same time, Perry caught four passes for 81 yards and two scores.
