Oregon Seeks To Continue Rebound Against BYU

CFB Betting: BYU Cougars vs. Oregon Ducks Information

The BYU Cougars are defying the NCAAF bets norms of September college football.  Most teams are trying to build up their records against cream puffs before the conference schedule begins.  Instead, the Cougars are playing their second consecutive high-profile game.  Last week the Cougars hosted the defending Big 12 champion Baylor Bears for a peek at the future.  And BYU scored a thrilling overtime win.  This week BYU hits the road to face the defending Pac-12 North Division champion Oregon Ducks.

BYU vs. Oregon CashBet Wagering Analysis

Betting action should be split evenly between these teams.  BYU has a large following based on its status as the flagship university for the LDS church.  Additionally, the Cougars are a respected and improving top online sportsbook college football brand.  So too, are the Oregon Ducks a national brand.  Oregon is fully funded by Nike chairman and alum Phil Knight and dresses the part.

Oregon was humiliated in their season opener against the Georgia Bulldogs.  It was a humbling start for their new head coach and former Georgia defensive coordinator, Dan Lanning.  And last week’s big win was against an FCS program.  Thus, beating BYU would bring much more credibility.

BYU Facing Letdown Spot at Autzen?

Last game, the BYU Cougars got a 26-20 overtime win against the Baylor Bears as 2.5-point favorites.  BYU has a record of 2-0 straight up, 2-0 against the spread, and 1-1 over/under the Betting on College Football total.

Namely, Lopini Katoa carried the Cougars to glory with a 3-yard TD run to lift BYU to a victory over the Bears in double overtime on Saturday night.  In sum, Jaren Hall threw for 261 yards and a touchdown.  And he added a 22-yard TD catch to lead BYU.  Chase Roberts had 122 yards and a touchdown on eight catches.  Also, Roberts threw a touchdown pass to Hall in the third quarter.

A Ducky Home Opener for Oregon

Last week, the Oregon Ducks romped to a 70-14 win against the Eastern Washington Eagles as 27-point favorites.  Oregon has a record of 1-1 straight up, 1-1 against the spread, and 1-1 over/under the bet on NCAAF total.

Bo Nix threw for 277 yards and five touchdowns as Oregon rebounded from its season-opening loss to Georgia.  It was Oregon’s 20th straight win at Autzen Stadium and its 18th consecutive victory in a home opener.  Troy Franklin caught ten passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.  In comparison, Byron Cardwell caught a scoring pass and ran for another TD.

Oregon was coming off a disheartening season-opening 49-3 loss to the No. 2 Bulldogs.  As a result of that thumping, the Ducks were kicked out of the AP Top 25.  Nix struggled against Georgia.  To show, he threw for 173 yards with two interceptions.

Against Eastern Washington, Oregon scored on its first game drive when Nix hit Terrance Ferguson with a 13-yard TD pass.  Next, Noah Whittington’s 5-yard dash down the middle doubled Oregon’s lead.  And Ferguson caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Nix to pad the Ducks a 21-0 lead.  Mar’Keise Irving added a 1-yard scoring run.  Subsequently, Oregon added two more touchdowns before halftime.  Nix hit Cardwell with a 13-yard scoring pass before a 7-yard pass to Franklin.   He completed his first ten passes of the game.

Nix stayed in the game to start the second half and threw a 2-yard pass to Cam McCormick.  But Oregon’s Trikweze Bridges fumbled at Eastern Washington-3 after an interception.  And then Casey Rogers in the end zone recovered it for a TD that made it 56-7.
