Michigan Begins Redemption Quest at Big House vs. WMU Saturday

Western Michigan Broncos vs. Michigan Wolverines Betting Information

Six years ago, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was labeled a savior.  Harbaugh returned to his alma mater, where he was a star quarterback.  Specifically, he was ready to lead the Maize and Blue back to national prominence. Michigan fans were delighted with excitement and eager anticipation of the championships to come.  But that’s not how it’s turned out.  Harbaugh posted College football betting marks of 10-3 in his first two seasons.  And he was recruiting at a national level.  But a heartbreaking and controversial overtime loss at Ohio State in 2016 ended the honeymoon.

Broncos Look to Bust Sportsbooks in 2021

Western Michigan head coach Tim Lester had the tough task of replacing PJ Fleck.  Fleck led the program to the greatest season in its history in 2016.  Following a 6-6 rookie campaign, Lester posted Betting on college football records of 7-6, 7-6, and 4-2.   Lester has built one of the best offenses in the Mid-American Conference.  Further, he put his team in contention for a division title the past two seasons.

Western Michigan quarterback Kaleb Eleby is one of the best in the Group of Five.  Additionally, four key receivers, the top three rushers, and four offensive line starters return.  Last year WMU averaged 41.7 points per game.

Dazed and Quite Blue in 2020

Last year the Michigan program free-fell to a bet on NCAAF record of 2-4.

As a result of the 2020 debacle, Jim Harbaugh blew up his staff.  He brought in new coaches that were much younger, energetic, and with fresh ideas.  Harbaugh was humiliated last year, and fans have tired of him.

The biggest frustration with Harbaugh is that he arrived as a reputed quarterback whisperer.  Yet he hasn’t recruited a signal-caller that has amounted to anything in five seasons.

One major concern is that one of the few assistant coaches to return is perhaps the worst one.  Offensive coordinator Josh Gattis is yet to field a coherent offense.  To be exact, Michigan still lacks an identity.  And Gattis doesn’t seem to be able to develop one.

Quarterback Cade McNamara was named the starter for the 2021 season.  McNamara beat out a highly talented freshman JJ McCarthy.  Last year as a redshirt freshman, McNamara got started four games, completing 60% of his passes with five touchdowns and no interceptions.  McNamara was a four-star recruit in the 2019 class.
