Louisville vs. Ole Miss NCAA Football Bets, Odds and Predictions (September 6, 2021)

Louisville Cardinals and Ole Miss Rebels

Consider that Matt Corral lost the Ole Miss quarterback job as a redshirt freshman.  And then he needed all of the preseason practice to reclaim it in 2020. But once he got the gig back, he didn’t let go.  Corral thrived in the first season of the new regime under Lane Kiffin and offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby. As a result, Ole Miss is a trendy College football betting brand for 2021.  Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield has slipped into trouble in his third season.  To show, Louisville went 8–5 in 2019 but was 4–7 in 2020.

In this situation, Ole Miss is the much higher-rated top online sportsbook pick.  Gamblers have a sense of momentum with the Rebels.

Which Louisville Shows Up for 2021?

Scott Satterfield wrote a letter of apology to Louisville fans after his flirtation to become head coach of South Carolina.  It follows that a lot of fans wish he would have taken that job.  Meanwhile, the gap between Louisville and Clemson has grown in the Atlantic Division.  NC State and Boston College have also outclassed the Cardinals.  Especially problematic is the loss of their three most dynamic offensive playmakers. The Betting on college football outlook is troubled.

Following the departure of offensive coordinator Dwayne Ledford, Satterfield decided to take over the Louisville offense.   First, Satterfield must get quarterback Malik Cunningham in sync.  In 2019 Cunningham was a top-tier quarterback in the ACC.  However, Cunningham had a significant reversal in 2020.  Cunningham threw 12 interceptions and lost three fumbles.  Cause by his struggles, Cunningham could eventually be replaced by Evan Conley. Overall, the Cardinals committed 24 turnovers.  Louisville ranked 119th nationally in turnover margin at minus-12.

Ole Miss Prepares to Rebel for Big Season

Last season Matt Corral averaged 333.7 passing yards per game and threw 29 touchdowns.  Additionally, he rushed for 506 yards and four touchdowns. Corral is being touted in the Heisman race.  And Ole Miss is being mentioned in preseason Top 25 polls as Kiffin’s bet on NCAAF priorities advance.

All-SEC running back Jerrion Ealy is back after rushing for 745 yards and nine touchdowns. In comparison, sophomore Henry Parrish Jr. climbed the depth chart during the season.  Ealy combines physical rushing with speed.  Namely, Elijah Moore had 86 catches in the 2020 campaign.  That was 59 more receptions than the next best Ole Miss player.  It’s unlikely that such a gap will be repeated this season. Wideouts Dontario Drummond and Braylon Sanders are expected to contribute.  Also, coveted four-star recruit Jonathan Mingo should be in the slot.

Returning several players from a unit that ranked No. 126 in total defense and No. 117 in scoring defense might spark much optimism. However, there are reasons to expect improvement
