Florida Looks to Rebound at Home Against Defenseless LSU

LSU Tigers at Florida Gators College Football odds, picks and predictions

On the whole, Florida is at their best level since Urban Meyer was coach.  Third-year head man Dan Mullen was Meyer’s offensive coordinator back then.  Since his return to Gainesville improvement has been noticeably quick.  Texas A&M’s College football betting upset of Florida on Saturday is an exception.  By contrast, LSU is in full regression.  New defensive coordinator Bo Pelini has been getting schooled.  Mizzou was the latest team to move at will on the Bayou Bengals.  LSU was never going to duplicate their perfect 2019 season.  However, nobody saw them being this bad so soon.

LSU Tigers at Florida Gators CashBet Wagering Analysis

On this occasion, LSU will struggle to attract sportsbook odds handle.  Squares are terrified of the lack of defense.  What’s more, Florida is respected at home.  Their loss at Texas A&M is viewed by most as understandable.

Toothless Tigers Defense Mauled at Mizzou

LSU lost 45-41 Saturday at Missouri as 14-point road chalks.  Over the total of 52 was a winner too.  As a result, the Bayou Bengals are 1-2 straight up and against the spread.  Two of their games cleared the Betting on college football total.  Offensively LSU ranks 17th overall and 17th for scoring.  Of major concern is a defense that ranks 71st overall and 52nd for points allowed.  Mizzou’s win was no accident as they outgained LSU 586-479.  So too did the Tigers overcome a -3-turnover margin.

New defensive coordinator Bo Pelini gets full blame for the disaster.  LSU coach Ed Orgeron personally sought out Pelini after Dave Aranda departed for Baylor.  Of course, Pelini was defensive coordinator for LSU’s 2007 national championship team.  But times and offenses have dramatically changed since then.  Orgeron himself said the loss at Mizzou was all on the defense.

Gators Fail to Chomp Aggies

Florida was ambushed at Texas A&M 41-38 as 6-point road chalks.  Over the total of 59.5 paid as well.  Now Florida is 2-1 straight up, 1-2 against the spread, and 3-0 over the total.  UF’s offense ranks 18th overall and eight for scoring.  Defensively the Gators rank 72nd overall and 58th for points allowed.

Florida’s defense was torched for 543 yards by the Aggies.  The end result is a loss of confidence at overtaking Georgia in the SEC East.  Texas A&M converted 12 out of 15 third-down conversions.  And held a 32-22 first down advantage.  Florida quarterback Kyle Trask threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns.  In sum, he has a 196.0 rating with 14 touchdown passes and one interception this season.

LSU Tigers at Florida Gators Against the Spread

Overall, Florida has gotten the money in 17 of their last 26 games.  At the Swamp, the Gators have covered nine of their last 14 games.  Specifically, in SEC action Florida has paid in 11 of their last 18 games.  Florida has gone under the total in seven of their last 18 SEC games.

Meanwhile, LSU is 10-4 against the spread vs. ranked teams. The Bayou Bengals have covered seven of their last 10 road matchups.  LSU is 18-12 against the bet on NCAAF spread in their last 30 contests.  On the road, LSU is over the total in six of their last 10.  Further, in SEC action the Tigers are 10-9 over the total.

Head to head the Tigers haven’t covered their last four meetings with the Gators.  The last two meetings in this head to head series went over the total.   In turn at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, the Gators have covered five of their last seven vs. LSU.  Four of the last six games in this series at Florida went over.
