Clemson Emerges as ACC Safe Choice for 2022

CFB Betting: 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Futures Odds

The Clemson Tigers are not the defending Atlantic Coast Conference football champions for the first time in seven years.  Instead, the upstart Pittsburgh Panthers took the 2021 ACC title.  Pitt rode Heisman trophy finalist and record-setting quarterback Kenny Picket to an easy win over Wake Forest in the ACC Championship Game.  Of great concern is that Pickett moved across the street to the NFL Steelers.  That has chased away College football betting faith on the Panthers.  Clemson is the traditional power brand and the fallback choice of the ACC future market.

CashBet Odds Analysis – Clemson Remains the Power Brand

To be exact, the Clemson Tigers are the most powerful ACC football brand on the top online sportsbook board.  No other team in the conference has been able to contend consistently as a challenger to Clemson.  Pitt is seen as a one-off with Kenny Pickett, who is long gone.  As a result, sharps are heading for the tall grass on Pitt.  Miami is seen as a team of the future, but that has nothing to do with 2022.  NC State is an annual tease, and North Carolina recruits well but is coming off a fallback season.  Thus, Clemson is an understandable and expensive favorite.

It’s a Dabo World in ACC Football

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has developed the greatest era of football in Tiger history.  To show, Clemson has won two Betting on college football national championships, seven ACC titles, and four appearances in the national championship game.  Last year Clemson “stumbled” to a “bad” season of 10-3 and a win over Iowa State in their bowl game.

It is true that Clemson recovered from a bad 2-2 start, but the Tigers were never a threat for the College Football Playoff.  After four years of Trevor Lawrence at quarterback, the Tiger offense fell far behind.  Clemson ranked 95th in the country for total offense and 79th for scoring.  By contrast, the Clemson defense saved the season, ranking 9th overall and 2nd for points allowed.

The big question is if DJ Uiagalelei will keep the starting quarterback job.  Freshman phenom Cade Klubnik is expected to challenge for the starting job.  Clemson’s defense remains a key bet on NCAAF asset.  Last year Uiagalelei was made the scapegoat for a lost season, but it was not all his fault.  Clemson has not recruited well offensively in the past several classes.  However, there is new blood and brains that could improve things.  Brandon Streeter takes over as offensive coordinator, and Wes Goodwin is the new defensive coordinator.

Panthers Second Choice Based on Wishful Thinking?

What are gamblers thinking about Pitt?  Consider the fact that the defending ACC champions have lost starting quarterback and marquee man Kenny Pickett to the NFL.  Pickett was a Heisman Trophy finalist.  And then wide receiver Jordan Addison was the Biletnikoff Award winner that has also departed.  Although head coach Pat Narduzzi has had a solid run, there is no realistic Betting on NCAAF indication that Pitt can repeat as ACC Champions.

The Rise of the U

At the onset of his arrival, new Miami head coach Mario Cristobal got the full attention of fans and gamblers.  Cristobal is a recruiting machine and is coming off a successful tenure at Oregon.  To be exact, Miami is the dream job for Cristobal.  He knows South Florida inside out, having grown up there and as a former Miami player and alum.  Miami is getting a massive infusion of cash for NIL deals to lure top talent.
