CFB Betting:  Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M Game Postponed Odds Analysis

Ole Miss at Texas A&M Aggies College Football betting

When Jimbo Fisher announced he was leaving Florida State he was labeled a quitter.  Now we have a much better understanding of why Fisher bailed.  Florida State has among the most incompetent leadership in the country.  Years of neglect have turned the 2013 national championship program into garbage.  Concurrently FSU coach Mike Norvell arrived after leading Memphis to their greatest season in history.  Perhaps he should have talked to Fisher first.  Norvell walked into a College football betting wasteland.  And his once-promising career may be ruined.  Meanwhile, Fisher has a contending program.  Texas A&M has caught fire.

Ole Miss at Texas A&M Aggies CashBet Wagering Analysis

On this occasion, sharps will ponder the ability of A&M’s offense to cover the online sportsbook number.  Texas A&M is solid. But they are not explosive.  Counter to that is a Rebels team with unreliable defense.

Ole Miss Offense in the Fast Lane

Last time out for Ole Miss was on November 28.  The Rebels scored a 31-24 betting on college football home win over Mississippi State.  Ole Miss were 9.5-point favorites with the game going under 70.5.  Now the Rebels are 4-4 straight up, 4-4 against the spread, and 5-3 over the total. In sum, Ole Miss ranks 3rd for total offense and 15th for scoring.  Defensively the Rebels rank 127th in the nation and 121st for points allowed.

First-year Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin arrived after a highly successful stint with Florida Atlantic.  FAU won two Conference USA championships including one last year.  Kiffin arrived at Mississippi with great fanfare.  And he’s definitely improved the offense.  Of major concern is that the defense remains one of the worst in the country.  Kiffin will need multiple recruiting cycles to fix it.

Of course, Kiffin was an SEC coach a decade ago with Tennessee.  He did well enough to get the USC Trojans job.  Problematic is that Kiffin has always lacked discipline.  Ole Miss isn’t a traditional contender in the SEC.  Kiffin will have to recruit well to move the needle at Oxford.

Aggies Yell for Playoff Charge

Saturday the Aggies beat Auburn Tigers 31-20 as 5-point road chalk.  And then the game stayed under 49.5.  Texas A&M improved to 7-1 straight up, 4-4 against the spread, and 4-4 on totals.  On the whole, the Aggies rank 41st for total offense and 46th for scoring.  Defensively Texas A&M ranks 21st in the nation and 31st for points allowed.

Auburn led the Aggies 20-14 heading into the 4th quarter.  Concurrently the Aggies took complete command of the final frame.  Texas A&M wore down Auburn and outgained the Tigers 509 to 340 in total yards.  The Aggies dominated in first downs 29 to 16 with a 38:00 time of possession.  While not artistic it was an impressive bet on NCAAF character statement.

Ole Miss at Texas A&M Aggies Against the Spread

To show Texas A&M has covered 19 of their last 33 games. As chalk Texas A&M is 14-9 on the board.  In SEC games the Aggies are 11-12 vs. the odds. Texas A&M has gone under in 19 of their last 33 games.  Further, the Aggies are 8-15 to the under as chalk.  Against SEC teams the Aggies are 8-15 to the under.  Texas A&M has covered three in a row against Ole Miss.  So too have the last six between these teams gone under.
