2022 Georgia Bulldogs Season Betting Analysis and Odds by CashBet Sportsbook

On the whole, the Georgia football program kept fielding great teams for decades.  Including the Mark Richt era.  But it did not reach the summit until last season.  Kirby Smart added the extra ingredients and depth to have what it took for a national championship.  Georgia has long been touted as a College football betting powerhouse.  But it took 40 years for them to get another national championship.  Now the question for gamblers is, what comes next?  Georgia has recruited well enough to have a dog in the hunt.  But even Alabama and Clemson struggled to repeat.

CashBet Odds Analysis – A Repeat of What?

There’s a college basketball theory that if you consistently put great teams on the floor each season, you’ll eventually catch the breaks come March Madness.  And that leads to the same theory for the College Football Playoff.

Demanding an online sportsbook national title is tough.  In basketball, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, and Gonzaga, shoot for that championship chance.  Just get to the Final Four.  In turn, that is what Georgia aims to do in 2022.  The Bulldogs just want to get to the College Football Playoff.  And that is a reasonable goal for UGA every season.  Keep bringing in elite recruiting classes, they believe, and eventually, they will win it.  That is what finally happened for the Bulldogs in 2021.

Georgia has been national title-good over the last several seasons under Kirby Smart.  But the program elevated itself from a contender like Oklahoma and Notre Dame to a national champion.  Now that UGA has made the Betting on college football leap, expectations are increasingly insane.  Now,  Georgia is in the same high-rent district that Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State hang in.  This superpower foursome has shown the annual consistency to keep rolling no matter how many NFL stars they lose.

A New Status and New Problems

Now, being in that elite club isn’t necessarily a positive when it comes to fun.  To illuminate, the pressure increases.  Alabama fans can verify this bet on NCAAF fact.  In 2021 the Crimson Tide boasted a Heisman winner, an SEC championship, and a trip to the national title game.  Yet when the question comes up during the preseason, most gamblers rank the College Football Playoff contenders as Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, and Georgia.  Based on the history, that is a correct read.

Certainly, it is not easy to win a national title in the CFP era.  Ohio State is the best evidence of that lately.  But gamblers would not be stunned if Georgia did it again.  Despite losing five first-rounders off the defense and 15 players selected in the last draft.  At the very least, another trip to the playoff is expected now.  Expectations are the price of glory.

It is true that Georgia lost a ton of players.  And there’s the realistic possibility of betting on NCAAF letdown.  Of course, the rest of the SEC is powerful.  And it’s seemingly impossible to repeat in the CFP era.  Also, there are the intangibles of lady luck and injuries.  But Georgia’s roster is stocked with the best 5-star talent in America.  Thus, if a team can repeat, it would be the Bulldogs.

An Underrated Asset

In sum, the Georgia defense might have been the star of the national championship show.  At the same time, the offense did plenty to contribute, too, averaging 443 yards and 38 points per game.

Namely, Stetson Bennett was the starting quarterback on the national championship team.  He’s not going to be the next Tom Brady.  Nor is he going to be on any top ten quarterback draft charts.  But UGA needed that one big drive in the national championship Bennett delivered.
