Gamblers Call for 3-Team NFC West Race at the 2022 NFL Futures Odds

NFC West Race at the 2022 NFL Futures Odds

Once upon a time, the Seattle Seahawks were a perennial Super Bowl best future market favorite.  But for 2022, those days are over.  The trade of Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos served as the white flag of surrender.  Seattle has been transformed from a favorite to a plague in the minds of the betting public.  Instead, the 49ers, Rams, and Cardinals are favored in the NFC West.  And with plenty of good reason.  Last year all three teams made the NFC Playoffs.  In fact, the Rams and 49ers met in the NFC Championship Game.

Gamblers See Super Rams as Solid Gold

Last year the Rams won the Super Bowl with a level of toughness that nobody believed they had.  Los Angeles stole a sportsbook playoff win at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat set up the Rams for glory.   Los Angeles won the NFC championship game over the arch-rival San Francisco 49ers.  And then their Super Bowl win over Cincinnati capped a dream season.

Of course, McVay had traded quarterback Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions for Matthew Stafford.  Goff led the Rams to the playoffs in three of his four seasons under McVay.  But the coach grew frustrated with Goff’s failures when it mattered most.  Stafford proved to be the final Betting on Super Bowl piece of the Super Bowl puzzle.

In turn, Sean McVay is often sold as the coach that would reinvent the game.  Before the 2021 campaign, the Rams were good but not quite at a Super Bowl betting odds level.  Now Los Angeles has the ultimate credibility.

49ers Pan For Gold With New Quarterback

At the beginning of training camp is the Super Bowl betting question of San Francisco’s quarterback.  First-round 2021 pick Trey Lance is listed as the starter on the depth chart over Jimmy Garoppolo.  But Jimmy G led the 2019 49ers to the Super Bowl.  Also, he was the hero of a 2021 run that put San Francisco in the NFC championship game.  Jimmy G battled injuries all year.   He earned the respect of teammates with impressive playoff wins at the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers.  But Lance is much more of a dual-threat quarterback.

Cardinals Seek Flight After Crash Landing in 2021

First and foremost, Arizona has improved every season under head coach Kliff Kingsbury.  The Cardinals have gone 5-10-1, 8-8, and then 11-6 in 2021.  Of major concern was that Arizona collapsed at the end of 2021 with a record of 1-4.  Finally, a 34-11 loss at the Los Angeles Rams enraged gamblers.

Kingsbury finds himself on the hot seat based on that decline.  Also, quarterback Kyler Murray shouldered plenty of blame for his role in the implosion.  Problematic was that Murray did not get enough support from his teammates.  Consider that Murray posted the best QB rating of his career at 100.6 in 2021.

If Arizona is to make the 2022 NFL playoffs, it must survive the final portion of the schedule that features three of its last four games on the road.  To show, Arizona will be at the Denver Broncos and host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Following that are games at the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers.
