Bucs Host Saints in ESPN MNF Battle of NFC South Losers

Saints vs. Buccaneers CashBet Wagering Analysis

There was little betting on NFL doubt that the Saints would take a step back this season.  Last year head coach Sean Payton retired.  Now we can see that Payton got out at the perfect time.  New Orleans has not been the same since Drew Brees retired as their record-setting QB.  And Jameis Winston has battled injuries and poor play as the replacement.  Thus, Andy Dalton has taken over as the Saint’s QB.  Dalton has exceeded expectations, but the surrounding cast leaves much to be desired.  Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is the NFC South division leader by default.

Saints vs. Buccaneers CashBet Wagering Analysis

The Saints won’t draw much in the way of casual sector support.  In comparison, The Buccaneers will get those squares, but at an increased top online sportsbook price.  Wise Guys will assess if the Saints are getting enough extra sugar to make a contrarian bet.

Saints Go Marching into Lost Season

Last game, the New Orleans Saints lost 13-0 against the San Francisco 49ers as 9.5-point road dogs.  The game went under the Betting on football total of 43.5.  New Orleans has a record of 4-8 straight up, 4-8 against the spread, and 6-6 over/under the total.  New Orleans ranks 15th for total offense, 11th for passing, 21st for rushing, and 21st for scoring.  Defensively they rank 11th overall, 7th against the pass, 22nd against the rush, and 20th for points allowed.  Also, New Orleans ranks 32nd for turnovers lost and 32nd for takeaways.

San Francisco forced two fumbles from Alvin Kamara.  Thus, they ended the NFL’s longest active scoring streak at 332 games and nearly 21 years.  San Francisco beat the Saints for their fourth straight win.

At the onset, the Niners set the tone on defense from the opening drive.  San Francisco forced a fumble, and they didn’t let up from there.  The 49ers stopped the Saints near the goal line twice in the second half.  Including another fumble by Kamara to post their first shutout since beating Washington 9-0 on Oct. 20, 2019.

Bucs Best of Bad NFC South Lot

Last game, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost 23-17 against the Cleveland Browns as 3-point road favorites.  The game went under the NFL bets total of 42.5.  Tampa Bay has a record of 5-6 straight up, 3-7-1 against the spread, and 2-9 over/under the total.  Tampa Bay ranks 18th for total offense, 5th for passing, 32nd for rushing, and 27th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 9th overall, 5th against the pass, 20th against the rush, and 7th for points allowed.  Also, Tampa Bay ranks 1st for turnovers lost and 22nd for takeaways.

Nick Chubb scored on a 3-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds left in overtime.  Hence, Cleveland rallied Sunday to stun Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.  Chubb powered through a pile of bodies at the goal line.  While the Browns sent Jacoby Brissett off with a win as they transition to Deshaun Watson next game.  So this was a special one for Brissett.  He has been invaluable to the Browns during another turbulent season.

Tom Brady completed 29 of 43 passes for 246 yards and was sacked three times.  In comparison, Brissett went 23 of 37 for 210 yards with one TD and an interception.  Chubb finished with 116 yards on 26 carries.

Brady opened the second half by completing his first six passes.  Including a 28-yarder to Mike Evans.  Subsequently, Evans became the first Tampa Bay player to reach 10,000 yards receiving.  The Buccaneers took a 17-10 lead when Brady connected with rookie Ko Kieft on a 5-yard scoring pass.  It was the 638th TD pass for Brady.  And then it was the first for Kieft, who is listed as the team’s fourth-string tight end.

In this situation, the Saints make the most sense.  Tampa Bay has been a terrible NFL Betting odds value in 2022.
