Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies NBA Playoffs Best Bets and Odds (04/26/2022)

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Memphis Grizzlies Playoffs Betting Information

It wasn’t supposed to be like this.  Memphis was one of the elite teams in NBA betting for 2021-22.  In comparison, Minnesota was a new postseason team that had to get through the play-in round to qualify.  The Grizzlies were heavily favored to route the Timberwolves in their first-round series.  But the series is deadlocked at two wins apiece for game five Tuesday night from Memphis.  Regardless of what the Grizzlies say to the media, the pressure is on.  And for Minnesota, it’s all about playing with house money.  Nobody expected anything from the Timberwolves.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Memphis Grizzlies CashBet Odds Analysis

So far, each team has won and covered one out of two games at home and on the road.  Game four saw the Timberwolves score a 119-118 win as 2-point top online sportsbook home dogs.  Additionally, this series is 1-1 over and under at each location.

On the whole, the Grizzlies will be facing a spotlight like never before.  Most of the gambling public ignored Memphis and its success.  The profitability of the Grizzlies made them one of the most popular teams on the board this season.  Wise Guys like nothing more than a strong team that the masses fail to appreciate.  But now, the sharps face the same test that the Grizzlies confront.  Will they stand strong based on the past, or is it time to panic?

Minnesota Timberwolves Howling a Warning to Bettors

First, the Timberwolves scored an impressive 109-104 win and betting on NBA cover over the LA Clippers in the play-in round.  As a result, Minnesota is in the playoffs for just the second time in 18 years.  The Wolves have gotten the money in three of their most recent five games.  Three of those five games went over the total.  On the whole, this has been a tremendous turnaround for the Timberwolves.  Minnesota limped into the play-in tournament with just two covers in its final ten regular-season games.

Last season Minnesota was one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA.  Although they were not much better this year, their ranking of 24th for points allowed was just enough to get them into the postseason.  Minnesota was the highest-scoring team in pro basketball betting.  And it is offense that has been the team calling card for the past few years.

Minnesota Goes to Towns

Minnesota center Karl Anthony Towns is the marquee man of the franchise.  Towns is a 3-time NBA All-Star.  Including this season.  So far in the playoffs, Towns is averaging 21.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest.  Towns averaged 24.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in the regular season.

Also factoring as a playoff asset has been forward Anthony Edwards.  Edwards leads Minnesota in the playoffs with 24.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.  In the regular season, Edwards averaged 21.3 points per contest.

Memphis Faces Fork in the Road

On the whole, this was a great but relatively unchallenging regular season for the Grizzlies.  And that may be a bad thing that is coming back to bite them in the postseason.  To illuminate, this is the first adversity that the Grizzlies have dealt with all year.  How Memphis handles this basketball betting pressure remains a source of debate.

Morant Not Hitting Regular Season Production

Guard Ja Morant became an NBA All-Star this season and a league sensation.  Thus far in the playoffs, he is averaging 20.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 10.8 rebounds assists per game.  But in the regular season, Morant averaged 27.4 points per contest.
