Purdue vs. Michigan in Big Ten Championship 2022 CashBet Odds and Pick

Purdue vs. Michigan in Big Ten Championship 2022 CashBet Odds and Pick

Jeff Brohm is the perfect fit for Purdue’s head coach.  Brohm arrived at a program that was losing games and money.  Fan support was terrible, and recruits blew off calls from Purdue.  Brohm quickly transformed the program into a regular bowl participant.  Now comes the biggest NCAAF bets opportunity yet.  Purdue will face Michigan in the Big Ten championship game.  Michigan is a strong favorite.  And understandably so.  But Brohm ranks among the best for game planning and creativity.  Purdue has gone farther than anyone could have imagined.

Purdue vs. Michigan CashBet Wagering Analysis

At the onset, the casual sector is jumping all over the Michigan brand and reputation.  Wise Guys are taking a hard look at Purdue and the points.  But the big best Sportsbook Online question is whether Purdue is good enough to stay within the number.

Purdue Boilers Up for First Championship Game Appearance

Last game, the Purdue Boilermakers won 30-16 against the Indiana Hoosiers as 10.5-point road favorites.  The game went under the Betting on College Football

total of 53.  Purdue has a record of 8-4 straight up, 5-7 against the spread, and 7-5 over/under the total.  Purdue ranks 53rd for total offense, 21st for passing, 97th for rushing, and 66th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 34th overall, 59th against the pass, 36th against the rush, and 41st for points allowed.  Also, Purdue ranks 41st for fewest turnovers lost and 20th for takeaways.

Namely, Aidan O’Connell threw for 290 yards and two scores.  In comparison, Devin Mockobee ran for 99 yards and another touchdown.  And the Boilermakers dominated rival Indiana to clinch their first Big Ten West Division title and date in Saturday’s championship game.

Of course, the title game looks like a mismatch between Purdue and Michigan.  But the Boilermakers are hot.  They’ve won three straight and six of eight.  Purdue has beaten Illinois and Indiana to keep both trophies.  Additionally, they posted back-to-back eight-win seasons for the first time since 1997-98.  Now they can win their first league crown since 2000.

O’Connell opened the third quarter with a 15-yard TD pass to Payne Durham to take a 10-7 lead.  Next series, Mockobee fooled Indiana’s defense.  He sprinted around the end on third-and-1, going 27 yards to make it 17-7.  Finally, the Boilermakers sealed it on O’Connell’s 60-yard TD pass to Charlie Jones.  And then Cory Trice’s 8-yard interception for a score in the closing minutes.

In sum, O’Connell was 18 of 29 with no interceptions.  Jones had four catches for 143 yards and has 97 receptions this season.  Mockobee also has five receptions for 58 yards.

Michigan Emerges as Big Ten Power

Last game, the Michigan Wolverines won 45-23 against the Ohio State Buckeyes as 9-point road dogs.  The game went over the bet on NCAAF total of 56.5.  Ohio State has a record of 12-0 straight up, 7-4-1 against the spread, and 4-8 over/under the total.  Michigan ranks 23rd for total offense, 91st for passing, 5th for rushing, and 7th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 2nd overall, 11th against the pass, 3rd against the rush, and 3rd for points allowed.  Also, Michigan ranks 9th for fewest turnovers lost and 65th for takeaways.

Michigan’s biggest hero was JJ McCarthy, who threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score.  While Donovan Edwards busted the game open with two long fourth-quarter TD runs.  McCarthy is a second-year quarterback who won the starting job from incumbent Cade McNamara early in the season.  And he came up huge when Michigan needed it most. McCarthy passed for 263 yards and didn’t commit a turnover.

Previously, McCarthy’s longest pass completion this season was 42 yards.  But against the Buckeyes, he threw three touchdown passes of at least 45 yards.  Accordingly, that is the most scoring passes of 45 or more in the history of the 105-game series.  McCarthy connected on scoring passes of 69 and 75 yards to Cornelius Johnson in the first half.  And then he hooked up with Colston Loveland in the second half for 45 yards.  That toss was the freshman tight end’s first career touchdown reception.
