Notre Dame at USC CashBet Wagering Analysis, Odds and Predictions

Indeed, it has been a very successful first season for USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley.  Riley took over an underachieving USC NCAAF bets program looking for a return to glory.  And USC is well on its way to that status.  This week the Men of Troy have their annual rivalry matchup against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  Like USC, Notre Dame has a new head coach in rookie Marcus Freeman.  Although the Fighting Irish are bowl bound, their season has been inconsistent.  And Notre Dame has suffered some embarrassing losses along the way.

Notre Dame at USC CashBet Wagering Analysis

Of course, the Fighting Irish and the Trojans are name-brand teams that draw plenty of betting activity.  Notre Dame will get some top online sportsbook looks from bargain hunters as a road dog with a capable roster.  By contrast, squares will take comfort in the power home chalk USC.

Fighting Irish Looking for Strong Close

Last game, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish won 44-0 against the Boston College Eagles as 19.5-point home favorites.  The game went over the Betting on College Football total of 42.  Notre Dame has a record of 8-3 straight up, 6-5 against the spread, and 6-5 over/under the total.  Notre Dame ranks 74th for total offense, 113th for passing, 36th for rushing, and 51st for scoring.  Defensively they rank 17th overall, 17th against the pass, 37th against the rush, and 29th for points allowed.  Also, Notre Dame ranks 55th for fewest turnovers lost and 67th for takeaways.

Cornerback Benjamin Morrison had three interceptions.  In comparison, the Notre Dame defense forced two fumbles.  Hence the Fighting Irish scored on their first eight possessions to beat Boston College on Saturday.  Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman was happy to see his team play at a high level throughout.  Specifically, that has been a problem for the Irish this season, especially against weaker opponents.

The Irish had a 336-81 advantage in total yards in the first half and a 214-1 advantage in rushing offense to open a 37-0 halftime lead.  In turn, the Irish had a 437-173 advantage in total yards for the game.  It was the fifth straight game the Fighting Irish have scored at least 35 points.

USC Bursts Into College Football Playoff Race

Last game, the USC Trojans won 48-45 against the UCLA Bruins as 2-point road favorites.  The game went over the bet on NCAAF total of 78.  USC has a record of 10-1 straight up, 7-4 against the spread, and 8-3 over/under the total.  USC ranks 2nd for total offense, 4th for passing, 47th for rushing, and 3rd for scoring.  Defensively they rank 94th overall, 105th against the pass, 66th against the rush, and 67th for points allowed.  Also, USC ranks 3rd for fewest turnovers lost and 1st for takeaways.

Caleb Williams bolstered Southern California’s push for a possible spot in the College Football Playoff.  Saturday marks the biggest game of his career against the Trojans’ archrival.  Also, he might have to book a trip to New York next month as a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Williams had 503 yards of total offense and accounted for three touchdowns.  And then the seventh-ranked Trojans beat UCLA on Saturday night to reach the Pac-12 championship game.  To summarize, Williams completed 32 of 43 passes for 470 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.  The sophomore also rushed for 33 yards and a score.  It was the second-most passing yards by a USC quarterback in 92 editions of the Crosstown Showdown.

Overall, the Trojans had a season-high 648 yards of total offense.  Williams completed passes to nine players.  But his favorite target was Jordan Addison.  Accordingly, Addison had 11 receptions for 178 yards and a touchdown.
