Michigan vs. Georgia in Orange Bowl Betting Match, Latest Odds and Pick

2021 College Football Playoff Capital One Orange Bowl Michigan vs. Georgia Betting Information

On the whole, Jim Harbaugh has been far better than worse as the Michigan head coach.  The College football betting problem was that Harbaugh’s hiring created insane expectations.  To illuminate, Harbaugh came home to his alma mater, where he was an All-American quarterback with a stellar coaching resume.  And he added fuel to the fire with Twitter wars, football camps held in SEC country, and sleepovers with recruits.  His first full recruiting class was introduced at a star-studded celebrity show.  All of this fed into Harbaugh being all hat and no cattle.

2021 Capital One Orange Bowl CashBet Odds Analysis

Naturally, SEC programs like Georgia get most of the causal best sportsbook online action.  But sharps love a quality dog like Michigan.

Will Bulldogs Bark or Bite?

Georgia was upset by Alabama 41-24 as 6-point favorites in the SEC Championship Game.  The game went over the Betting on college football total of 48.5.  In sum, Georgia is 12-1 straight up, 8-5 against the spread, and 6-7 over/under.  The Bulldogs have NCAAF metrics of 28th for total offense and 7th for scoring offense.  Defensively, Georgia has CFB markers of 2nd overall and 1st for points allowed.

Michigan Maize But No Longer Blue

In the Big Ten Championship Game, Michigan obliterated Iowa 42-3 as an 11.5-point favorite.  Also, Michigan and Iowa soared over the bet on NCAAF total of 43.5. Michigan has a record of 12-1 straight up, 11-2 against the spread, and 7-6 over/under.  Overall, NCAAF metrics show Michigan 19th for total offense and 13th for scoring offense.  Defensively, the Wolverines ranks 12th overall and 4th for points allowed.

Following Harbaugh’s 24/7 news cycle arrival came the overseas spring break trips to such places as Italy, Normandy, and South Africa.  While the record was quite good, it wasn’t good enough.  Harbaugh could not get over the Ohio State hump.  Until this season, that is.

2021 Season

To be exact, the 2021 season will go down as one of redemption for Harbaugh.  Michigan played with a level of toughness that has been missing for several years.  Gone was all of the drama queen noise of the past.  For too long, there was a sense of entitlement at Michigan.  To show, players acted as if simply putting on the winged helmet would be enough for success.  Now there is a masculine element of earning everything the Wolverines get.

Another successful transition was Harbaugh’s commitment to going back to the future on offense.  Indeed, Harbaugh felt burned badly by trying to “modernize” the offense with more spread looks.  That came to a head in 2020 when the Wolverines were rendered helpless.  But in 2021, the stone age tactics seemed to toughen up Michigan on both sides of the line.

Now the question is, where does Michigan go from here?  Harbaugh has proven that he can run a consistent top-10 contender program.  But did he use this season to get an NFL escape offer?  Remember that Harbaugh tried to get an NFL life raft last year but was laughed off the phone.  Accordingly, this year he brings a restored resume that could appeal to a team in the NFL.

Michigan Wolverines vs. Georgia Bulldogs Against the Spread

Overall, Georgia has gone under the total in six of their last nine games.  The Bulldogs are 6-2 vs. the odds in December games.  In comparison, Michigan has gone over the total in six of their most recent nine games.  The Wolverines are 12-3 over the total in matchups against the SEC.
