Marshall vs. Notre Dame NCAAF Betting Analysis and CashBet Odds

arshall Thundering Herd vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Odds

Last year Notre Dame was in College Football Playoff contention when Brian Kelly bolted for LSU.  Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick immediately hired defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman.  Swarbrick may have panicked in the effort to salvage NCAAF bets recruiting.  Also, Freeman was already being touted as future head coaching material.  When Freeman was introduced to his players, there was an insane celebration.  Specifically, Freeman was touted as the ultimate player’s coach.  And that viral video verified that.  Freeman was sold as a motivator that could relate to the modern player.

Marshall vs. Notre Dame CashBet Wagering Analysis

Of course, Marshall can’t match the top online sportsbook brand of Notre Dame.  The Fighting Irish rank with the Yankees, Celtics, and Cowboys for name recognition with gamblers.  Of great concern is how Notre Dame will fare with the inexperienced Freeman as a coach.  Player’s coaches are often done in by their own players at the end of their failed tenures.  Time will tell if that applies at Notre Dame.

Herd Thunders off Resounding Win

Last week the Marshall Thundering Herd beat Norfolk State 55-3 as 40-point home favorites.  The game went under the Betting on College Football total of 59.  Ethan Payne and Khalan Laborn both went over 100 yards rushing with two touchdowns each.  Marshall routed FCS Norfolk State as expected.  Yet it was an important win.

In sum, Payne led with 113 yards on ten carries.  While Laborn added 12 carries for 102 yards.  Overall, the Thundering Herd piled up 380 yards on the ground.  Meanwhile, Henry Colombi was 24-of-26 passing for 205 yards.   Marshall finished with 612 yards total offense with 33 first downs.  It was an impressive start to a season in which a bowl berth is demanded.

Not So Golden Debut for Freeman and Domers

Last week the Notre Dame Fighting Irish suffered a 21-10 loss at the Ohio State Buckeyes as 17-point dogs.  The game went under the bet on NCAAF total of 58.5.

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman is 0-2 as a head coach.  Following a bowl game loss just weeks after being named Brian Kelly’s successor.  And then he was unable to defeat his alma mater on Saturday night.

The Irish hung with the high-scoring Buckeyes for most of three quarters.  Specifically, Notre Dame contained Heisman Trophy finalist CJ Stroud.  Notre Dame put together a couple of first-half scoring drives.  But the Fighting Irish could not generate a ground attack against the new Ohio State defense.  In the same way, Notre Dame starting quarterback Tyler Buchner was suffocated in the second half.

Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish defense was worn down from carrying the team.  After a stout performance for most of the game, the defense finally cracked.   On a third-and-long, Notre Dame blitzed, but Stroud hit wide-open Xavier Johnson for a 24-yard score.  That TD changed the personality of the game.  Subsequently, Notre Dame never threatened the rest of the way

Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner completed his first eight passes.  However, he went 2/10 for the rest of the evening.  The Fighting Irish offense had a promising first half.  But as the game progressed, offensive coordinator Tommy Rees failed to produce.

Marshall vs. Notre Dame CashBet Free Pick

Late on, Marshall has covered seven of its previous eight Betting on NCAAF matchups.  Also, the Thundering Herd got the cash in seven of its last eight away games.  Notre Dame has paid in eight of its most recent nine games.  Of major concern is the public money flooding in on the Fighting Irish.  The Thundering Herd team should be able to hang within the inflated number.
