2022 College Football Top 25 Odds, Analysis and Rankings

2022 College Football National Championship CashBet Odds

At the onset of future College football betting, we have most of the same names at the top of the AP Top 25.  Alabama is again given the benefit of the doubt as the preseason #1 ranked team.  Last year the Crimson Tide lost the national championship game to Georgia.  But annual recruiting rankings at the top make Alabama a justifiable favorite.  Quarterback Bryce Young returns after throwing for 4872 yards and 47 TD passes in 2021.  Second-year offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien should have an even more lethal unit for 2022.

Ohio State Expected to Return to the College Football Playoff

Last year it was forgotten that Ohio State was an 11-win top online sportsbook program in 2021.  What is remembered is how the Michigan Wolverines annihilated the Buckeyes.  Of great concern was how the Buckeyes were mauled at the line of scrimmage.

Head coach Ryan Day wasted no time in making changes.  First, Day hired respected Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.  Knowles will be tasked with toughening up the Buckeye run defense.  On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback CJ Stroud is a Heisman Trophy candidate.  In sum, Stroud threw for 4435 years, and 44 TD passes in 2021.

Georgia Has Recruited to Repeat

In a similar way to Alabama, the Georgia Bulldogs have used recruiting to fortify their roster for annual national championship runs.  Georgia lost 15 players to the 2022 NFL Draft.  Yet the Bulldogs have been such a dominant recruiter that they remain an elite Betting on college football favorite.  Georgia’s biggest roster losses were on defense.  And that is where the recruiting is expected to pay off for head coach Kirby Smart and UGA.  Championship quarterback Stetson Bennett returns with a loaded offense.

Clemson Has Free Path to College Football Playoff

On the whole, the Clemson Tigers have a bet on NCAAF advantage that nobody else can match.  Clemson plays in the basketball-centric Atlantic Coast Conference and should roar back to dominance.  Last year the Pitt Panthers won the ACC but lost quarterback Kenny Pickett.  Clemson had an admittedly disappointing season in 2021.  Yet the Tigers managed to post another double-digit win season.  Clemson’s suffocating defense should be even better in 2022.  Most important of all, the offense will be significantly improved under new coordinator Brandon Streeter.

Jimbo Leads Aggie Yell for More

Speaking of recruiting, Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher has hauled in one of the greatest classes in history.  In fact, Fisher did so well that Alabama head coach Nick Saban complained that the Aggies “bought” their players.  Saban later walked back those comments and apologized.

For the past several years, Fisher has recruited to make betting on NCAAF championship run.  While the Aggies have gotten better, they have not broken all the way through.  Fisher was hired to win national championships.  He has not come close.  DJ Durkin arrives from Ole Miss as the new defensive coordinator.  But offense is where the big leap forward must come from.

The Aggies will have a three-way quarterback battle at the beginning of training camp.  Max Johnson, Haynes King, and Conner Weigman are all seen as potential starter for the 2022 campaign.
