What a difference a year makes. In 2019 LSU had the magical season of a lifetime. To illuminate, the Tigers went a perfect 15-0 and won the national championship. Head coach Ed Orgeron was named national coach of the year. At the same time, quarterback Joe Burrow rocked the Heisman Trophy. The future seemed secure for Orgeron’s LSU program. However, the Football Gods were too good to the Tigers in 2019. There was College football betting hell to pay in 2020.

2021 LSU Tigers Team Overview
College football programs simply don’t have everything go their way two years in a row. For LSU, the 2020 sportsbook campaign was a borderline catastrophe. Further, the offseason news was even worse. Orgeron is under fire and an indicted party to an FBI criminal investigation. Subsequently, in 2021 the worst may yet be to come.
Last year, LSU finished 5-5 and needed Betting on college football wins in their final two games to salvage a .500 record. Overall the Tigers’ defense was an utter embarrassment. Ed Orgeron bragged about hiring Bo Pelini as his defensive coordinator at this time last year. By the end of the 2020 campaign, Coach O and Pelini were not speaking. Thus, they “mutually agreed to part ways.”
As outdated as Pelini’s schemes were, it was Orgeron’s hubris that was mainly at fault. Orgeron failed to do his due diligence and fully vet Pelini and his vision for the defense. In like manner, the offensive side had problems. Passing game coordinator Scott Linehan was a terrible fit. But it was Orgeron’s idea to hire him without vetting.
Is Coach O Losing the Team?
Ed Orgeron has always been known as an ace recruiter. But his relationships with LSU players deteriorated badly last year. Part of it was perceived insensitivity by Orgeron in regards to social justice issues.
There was also an element of Orgeron being out of touch with players and fans alike. Correlate internet pictures of him lying nude in bed with his new girlfriend. Those photos were viewed as a man reading his own headlines. Orgeron went through a highly publicized divorce right after winning the national championship.
Of great concern is the atom bomb that went off in the bet on NCAAF offseason. A federal investigation is underway regarding sexual assaults by the LSU football team. Institutionally, LSU is coming off as lax and uncaring in this era of “me too.”
Orgeron has never come off like the slick corporate type that always says the right thing. Indeed, that is part of his charm. But he is an easy man to get rid of if necessary. Compared to the polished corporate drones that tend to run administrations, Coach O is uncouth. Further, he lacks the depth to understand the marketing demands of modern college football.
Cause by all of this trouble, Orgeron faces the necessity of needing a big winning season. With a revamped coaching staff and 16 returning starters, he stands a solid chance of changing the narrative. But he has no margin for error.
Constant Coaching Changes
New offensive coordinator Jake Peetz and passing game coordinator DJ Mangas vow to bring back the 2019 level of production. Meanwhile, Minnesota Vikings defensive backs coach Daronte Jones arrives to take over as defensive coordinator. Jones wants a simplistic defense that is easy to understand and communicate. Also, he wants a defense that is constantly on the attack.

In this situation, LSU has plenty of experience and a chip on its shoulder. So too, can that be said about Orgeron. Of great concern is the massive Betting on NCAAF turnover on the coaching staff and roster over the past two years.
